The Travel Trainer hiking program will once again be offered to Koreans who will visit Switzerland this year. The announcement was made by Swiss Ambassador to Korea in a press conference held in Seoul last week.
The program was first launched in 2007 by Switzerland Tourism and had contributed to the 50 percent increase in the number of Koreans who visit Switzerland. This was popular primarily among middle-aged people and senior citizens.
The program offers hikers the opportunity to consult the trainers and be guided to hiking routes that are suitable for their health condition. Also, expert trainers recommend Nordic walking, a form of fitness walking that makes use of poles. Nordic walking is known to help reduce knee pain which is usually experienced by hikers.
This year’s Travel Trainer program will start this coming April.
