Walk your Way to Health

Walking enthusiasts are being invited to the Pavilion in Grayshott on Wednesday 24 October to take part in a walking workshop designed to provide information and advice about leading Walks to Health.

The local Walking to Health scheme has experienced great success over the last five years and sees about 100 people each week attend one of the 10 weekly walks around the District in places such as Alton, Liss, Liphook, Bordon, Headley, Petersfield and Rowlands Castle.

Each walk is supported by a loyal and keen group of volunteers who offer their time to lead the local Walks to Health and without their help, the walks would not exist.

Councillor Mrs Jennifer Gray, East Hampshire District Council Health and Healthy Lifestyles Portfolio Holder, said the walking workshop provides a great opportunity for anyone eager to volunteer and provide help and support to the local Walking to Health groups.

"The willingness and enthusiasm of local people is key to ensuring the success of the local walking schemes. If you would like to be a part of this successful scheme then come along on 24 October to join in and find out more. You will be supported all the way by the Active Lifestyles Coordinators at East Hampshire District Council who are on-hand to offer advice and support," she added.

Attendance at the walking workshop will enable you to set up and lead a Walk to Health of your own, or to support an existing walk, and become one of over 30,000 walk leaders to gain accreditation to the national Walking the way to Health Initiative.

The walking workshop is completely free of charge and will run from 9.30am to 4.00pm at the Pavilion, Beechanger Road, Grayshot, situated on the B3002 Headley Road. Lunch will be included.
