On the first and third Sunday of each month, Wellington City Council will host Nordic walking events across the city.
Nordic walking is walking with poles that have angled tips to allow you to create extra momentum by using your arms. Your hands are attached to the poles by a comfortable support which protects your wrists and allows you to propel yourself with a full arm ‘thrust’! The poles are adjustable height so can be used by a wide range of people.
The routes selected for our Nordic walking events have been tried and tested by Sandro Roth, who brings with him 15 years of cross-country skiing experience, as well as qualifications in Exercise Science. Sandro continues to study as well as manage a gym and working as a personal trainer.
If you would like to come Nordic walking with Wellington City Council, please choose an event and contact Sandro via email to book your place. There are 10 pairs of Nordic walking poles that can be borrowed for each event.
You can participate in any event if you bring along your own poles, although you will still need to let Sandro know you will be attending.
