Marathon by the Sea Adds Nordic Walking 21K

The 2007 Marathon by the Sea will be on September 23, 2007 at St. John, New Brunswick, Canada. This year, a new category is added to the event: Nordic Walking.

Aside from the Nordic Walk 21K demonstration event, Nordic Walkers are welcomed to participate for recreation in all running events, including the 5K, 10K, Half and Full Marathons.

According to J. Stephen Mundle, Cardiopulmonary Physiotherapist at the New Brunswick Heart Centre, "Nordic walking offers another wonderful option for exercise; it is a safe and effective way to expend more energy and raise your fitness level."

Online registration closes at 11:59 PM (local Atlantic time) on September 18, 2007. Cost is $75 if you register before September 20 and $85 if you register during the Marathon weekend. There will be no registration day.
