Nordic Walking Clothes & Shoes

Nordic Walking Clothes & Shoes Since Nordic Walking can be done all-year round, the type of clothing and footwear that you wear depends on the type of terrain and weather condition you expect to encounter. In this article, we will discuss some combinations of clothes and shoes that you can wear when you do this activity. The following are only suggestions; you can make your own combinations depending on what you see fit for you.

During warmer seasons, you can choose to wear light and breathable clothing so that you can keep yourself cool under the heat of the sun. It would also be good if your clothing is made of moisture-wicking material so that sweat is wicked away from your body. Also, remember to wear a cap and sunglasses to further protect you from the heat of the sun. Your footwear will depend on the type of terrain you are planning to go Nordic Walking to. If you plan to walk on relatively flat surfaces, you can wear a pair of running shoes. However, if you plan to walk on uneven and slippery terrain, it is advisable to wear hiking boots since they are better-suited for those types of terrain. Just remember to wear appropriate socks so that your feet are protected from blistering. Even if it is not actually a part of your clothing, applying sunscreen will protect your skin from the sun’s ultraviolet rays that may cause skin cancer.

If, however, you plan on going Nordic Walking in colder temperatures, remember to wear clothing that will keep you warm, dry, and protected. For your head, a beanie would probably be enough to keep it warm. Depending on the degree of coldness, you can wear a sweater, jacket, or a vest. Keep in mind to bring clothes that you think that will give you enough protection from the cold. It’s better to be on the side of being a bit overdressed than the opposite. Remember that it’s always easier to shed some clothes when it gets warmer than shudder in the cold because you did not bring enough clothes with you. If walking on snowy terrain, it is a must to wear snowshoes. Snowshoes help you walk on snow by distributing your weight across the ground so you do not sink there.

Above are just some of the clothing options you have when you go Nordic Walking. As a rule of thumb, always wear shoes and clothing that are appropriate to the kind of outdoor climate you expect. By doing so, you are assured of a comfortable and hassle-free walk!
