Nordic Walking Accessories Effective training in Nordic Walking can be achieved by having the right equipment that is especially designed for this kind of activity. In this section, we will give you a brief discussion about gear and accessories that will be of great help to you.
  • Gloves
    Gloves make your Nordic Walking experience more pleasant and enjoyable as these are designed to protect your hands from getting blisters. Some types even have rubber padding for added grip. Although real Nordic Walking Poles come with comfortable Hand Straps that are like fingerless gloves, it will still be necessary to have your own Gloves especially during colder months.

  • Bags
    Use a Bag to carry all your gear and equipment. It’s best to have an easy-to-carry Bag in which you can keep your gear for training. Determine how much gear you are going to carry so you will know what type of Bag you are going to use. Since this activity involves a lot of walking, you will definitely need a lightweight Bag which can carry all your needs.

  • Asphalt Paw
    Asphalt Paw is a perfect tool for Nordic Walking since it can provide maximum grip and can be relied upon whatever the weather is. It can also absorb pole impacts when walking on hard surfaces but should be removed when walking on grass.

  • Pedometer
    The Pedometer is a measuring instrument which counts the number of steps you make. This is more useful when one is following a particular walking program which sets a number of steps per session.

  • Heart Rate Monitor (HRM)
    The Heart Rate Monitor is a device that measures and records your heart rate. It determines how hard or how little your body is working by measuring the number of beats per minute (BPM). Knowing your BPM is important so that you can easily adjust to your pace accordingly. Sometimes, working hard too much can actually damage muscles. By monitoring your BPM, you can either speed up or slow down depending on the reading. A typical Heart Rate Monitor has a chest strap transmitter which sends a signal to a wrist receiver and gives a real time feedback of your current heart rate.

You will find that these devices and tools, though not considered as primary pieces of Nordic Walking Equipment, are very useful and can contribute a lot in making the activity more enjoyable and hassle-free. So the next time you go Nordic Walking, make sure to include these in your backpack.
