hi there deepbright, my advice is you should choose the pole which will make you feel comfortable. Grip is an impt. factor, (you should have a good grip on the pole). About your question, one piece poles are generally lighter and durable as well, they work well uphill, downhill and even on flat surface. While adjustable poles are great too but it's a lot heavier and clunky, there are times when it collapses easily while walking.

I would say that you opt for the one pc pole, it's lightweight and it can even absorb vibrations produced while waking!

I developed a sore wrist after using poles with straps. I switched to Tom Rutlin's Exerstriders without straps. That cured my problem. The technique of Exerstriding is somewhat different that Nordic walking such as the absence of backward hand release but you certainly get the same workout.
